School of Theatre and Dance

The School of Theatre & Dance is a nationally recognized program, offering conservatory style training rooted in a liberal arts education. Our approach to education, known as Performance Learning, offers a comprehensive integration of theory and practice with the added component of collaboration with third-party stakeholders. Through these collaborations, our students gain valuable insight and engagement with their chosen professions prior to graduation which helps prepare them for professional success.

With only 1800 undergraduate students, Millikin is able to offer smaller class sizes, individualized attention, and faculty/student mentorship opportunities that foster artistic and academic growth for all parties. The intimate setting allows us to blur the lines between individual degree programs and focus on working together as a community of artists from a variety of disciplines who are equally essential to the process of creating theatre.  Our student-artists will have a revolutionary new home dedicated to Performance Learning as the Center for Theatre & Dance opens its doors this fall. We invite you to explore our programs of study and discover the many artistic and academic elements that make the Millikin University School of Theatre and Dance an exciting and unique place to study.

Prospective Students

The School of Theatre and Dance is a high profile program within a small university setting fostering an environment where individualized attention is the norm. Faculty work side by side with students as mentors and as artists.

Programs of Study

The Millikin experience is rich with opportunity and artistic context. Our five degree programs are designed to offer an immersive set of experiences for students seeking a comprehensive education in theatre.

Signature Programs

In addition to the intensive focus on individual disciplines, students in the School of Theatre and Dance have opportunities to engage in one or more of our Signature programs. From working with professional writing teams to immersing in international culture, from being part of a student run theatre company to engaging in social entrepreneurship, these unique programs offer our students invaluable Performance Learning opportunities rich in transferrable skills.

New Center for Theatre and Dance
