SOTAD Unified Auditions – Spring 2026

The Great American Trailer Park Musical and Holy Chicken Sandwich

Tuesday, January 20, 2026 – Saturday, January 24, 2026

AUDITION PROCESS

*Your audition is two minutes in length. You must present a song AND a monologue that meet the requirements below.  We WILL call “time” if you go over two minutes, so please plan accordingly.  You want to make sure you can show all your material within the time allotted.

SONG

*Please sing a Country (deep-fried) cut.

*Both the “Country” chapter and the “Communicating What You Need To An Accompanist” chapter from Rock the Audition have been uploaded to the Unified Auditions Moodle page.  If you are not familiar with the RTA technique, PLEASE READ these chapters before you choose a cut and as you prepare for the audition.

*Make sure you have listened to the soundtrack of The Great American Trailer Park Musical. What country or pop artists does the music remind you of?  How can you choose a song that helps “put you” somewhere in the show?

*While we do not require that you use an audition cut from Musicnotes (https://www.musicnotes.com/audition/), we recommend them because they have arc, range and good accompaniments.

*DO NOT sing anything from The Great American Trailer Park Musical

*DO NOT sing a classical or contemporary musical theatre selection.

MONOLOGUE

Please present a monologue of your choice during which the character has a discovery and is changed by it.

DANCE

Please come warmed up and prepared to learn a disco-inspired combo from Storm’s A-Brewin.  Please wear form fitting clothing as is appropriate and allows for the lines of the body to be seen.  All female presenting dancers will be asked to perform the combo in character heels (you may learn the combo in flats or sneakers if need be).  All male presenting dancers please wear either character shoes or sneakers.  Absolutely no ballet flats or bare feet will be permitted.

OPTING OUT

*If you are a Junior or Senior BFA Acting major and would like to “opt out” of singing and dancing at Unifieds, please email Performance Coordinator, Angie Miller (afmiller@millikin.edu), by 5pm on Friday, December 12, 2025.  Please remember that if you choose to perform only a monologue, you will not be considered for casting in The Great American Trailer Park Musical.

Information Concerning Auditions for Cendrillon (Opera):

Auditioning for the Spring Opera is optional for SOTAD students and all information regarding those auditions/callbacks can be found under the Opera “shell” on the Theatre: Unified Auditions Moodle Page.  Just a reminder that you must have the Tuesday/Thursday, 3:00-3:50pm time slot open in your Spring class schedule in order to be considered for casting.

Information Concerning Children’s Show from Denise:

On the Unified Audition Form that you fill out before auditions, you will have the choice to indicate whether you would like to be considered for the children’s show or not.  It will be a semi-devised production. Creative question: How many ways can we theatrically share stories?  Working title: Fantabulous Fable Follies.

I am looking for an assistant director, actors, writers, composers, musicians, choreographers, costumers, props artisans, and stage managers. At the Auditions a form will be available for you to indicate specific interests.  You do not need to prepare anything extra for the Unified Auditions.  I will work callbacks, if needed, around Mainstage callbacks.  Rehearsals begin mid-February. Show dates March 28 and 29. If you don’t plan to audition, but are interested in non-acting positions or have questions, please contact Denise: dmyers@millikin.edu
