Performance Learning is one of Millikin's core learning philosophies, where students are offered a wide range of opportunities to test drive their skills in an environment outside of the classroom to real-world situations through internships, research, global opportunities and more.

For Aaron Zoellner, a junior Biology major at Millikin University, the path to becoming a physician began far from the lab — on a farm in southeast Missouri.
Raised in a rural community near Cape Girardeau, Zoellner grew up surrounded by livestock and long days of work. His family managed hundreds of sheep, cattle, alpacas, chickens and more, and daily chores were simply part of life.

The state-of-the-art facility opened in Spring 2024 and features the Campbell Family Nursing Simulation Center, Health Assessment Lab, a collaborative graduate learning space and various office spaces.
