Music is life at Millikin. Our accomplished faculty will show you that dreams and reality aren’t so far apart as they play alongside you, learn with you, and help develop the talent you’ve only begun to tap into!

The mission of the School of Music is to develop the whole musician – artistically, intellectually, technically – through the integration of theory and practice in an environment where students become active learners through their relationships with faculty, who themselves continue to grow as artists, scholars, and teachers.

Millikin's nationally recognized School of Music  brings relevant, performance-based opportunities to all facets of undergraduate music education.  With five distinctive music degree programs and additional certificate options, our students find their path to professional success through a blending of creative, performative, scholarly, and entrepreneurial experiences designed to train the next generation of music professionals.

Performance Learning

At Millikin, students experience an environment rich in Performance Learning, where students experience real-world risks and rewards while combining theory and practice with imagination and innovation.

Engaged in supportive partnerships with faculty and staff, our students practice their disciplines in the classroom and perform their disciplines through engagement with a global community of experts- scientists, artists, authors, or other committed third-party stakeholders.  We believe the best way to learn is to do and reflect- in the classroom and beyond.  Through Performance Learning, Millikin students prepare to shape their lives, own their careers, and impact their communities.

Our commitment to providing all students in all disciplines opportunities for Performance Learning distinguishes Millikin University as a leader in higher education.
