Students interested in an athletic training career can earn their Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT) at Millikin in one of two ways:

1. Students entering Millikin as undergraduates can complete the first three years of the Exercise Science major, before beginning the MSAT in their fourth year. Students on this path earn their MSAT in five academic years rather than the traditional six.

2. Students who earn undergraduate degrees in exercise science, athletic training or a related field at another university can earn their MSAT through two years of coursework at Millikin.

As an athletic trainer, you will be a qualified allied health care professional. Your education and experience will include the prevention, evaluation, rehabilitation, protection and management of health care problems associated with diverse populations. In cooperation with physicians and other allied health care personnel, the athletic trainer functions as a vital link between all spheres of physical activity and the medical community. Athletic trainers are employed in a variety of settings, including:

  • Health & Rehabilitation Clinics
  • High Schools & Universities
  • Youth & Professional Sports
  • Performing Arts & Business
