Nursing Leadership Completion, DNP

The Doctor of Nursing Practice Completion in Leadership Program is for Registered Nurses holding a master's degree in nursing who want to complete the practice doctorate as their highest earned academic degree. The DNP is a practice-focused doctorate similar in scope to those practice doctorates offered in other professional disciplines.

Master's level MSN transcripts will be reviewed individually to determine the number of residency hours required. Coursework is designed to be completed part-time over a 30-month period. The DNP Program does not follow the traditional university calendar. Courses are delivered online, year-round.

Graduate applicants should:

  • Complete the DNP Application. 
  • Upload official transcripts from all graduate and undergraduate institutions attended and demonstrate a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Show evidence of MSN core courses, as well as graduate-level statistics and Health Care Policy and Economics course prior to enrollment.
  • Possess an unencumbered/unrestricted license as a Registered Professional Nurse in Illinois.

  • Submit a one to two-page written statement (up to 1000 words) addressing personal and professional goals related to the DNP Program.
  • Submit a current resume or curriculum vitae.
