Co-produced by the Decatur Park District, this youth production brings to life the imaginative and inspiring story based on the novel “Matilda” by Roald Dahl.

“Matilda the Musical Jr.” tells the story of a bright and courageous young girl whose extraordinary intelligence and psychokinetic powers capture the attention of her kind-hearted teacher, Miss Honey. At school, however, Matilda must stand up to the fearsome headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, who despises children and delights in enforcing harsh punishments. With bravery, cleverness and a vivid imagination, Matilda may just find a way to change her story, and the lives of those around her.
“This production showcases the incredible talent of young performers in our community,” said Bryan Diver, Director of Kirkland Fine Arts Center. ‘Matilda the Musical Jr.’ is a heartwarming and empowering story that reminds audiences of all ages about the power of courage, kindness and standing up for what’s right.”
Filled with high-energy musical numbers and memorable characters, the family-friendly performance is designed to delight children and adults alike.
