Applying to the School of Theatre & Dance

The Millikin experience is rich with opportunity and artistic context. From our five degree programs and two minors, to our London Semester, from our student-run theatre company, Pipe Dreams Studio Theatre, to our ambitious production season, from our New Musicals Workshop to the many invited guest artists who visit campus, there is something for everyone seeking a comprehensive education in theatre. Steps to Apply 

1. Apply to Millikin University

Before the audition or interview process begins, you must first apply to and be accepted by Millikin University’s Office of Admission. Students may apply to Millikin using the Common App or through our website at www.millikin.edu/apply. There is no fee to complete the application.

  • Acceptance into the School of Theatre & Dance also requires those intent upon majoring in a BFA program to perform an audition or interview for consideration. 
  • Our BA program requires no additional steps beyond the Millikin application for admission.

2a. Submit Pre-Screen Materials (Acting & Musical Theatre Only)

Once admitted to the University, applicants will receive an acceptance packet in the mail with specific instructions on how to upload pre-screen materials to GetAcceptd.com. Detailed information on audition requirements may be found on our Audition Requirements page, or at the Millikin University GetAcceptd Landing Page. There is a $30 fee to submit audition materials to GetAcceptd.com.  

2b. Schedule an Interview (Design & Production or Stage Management Only)

Once admitted to the University, applicants will be invited to schedule an interview by contacting our Audition/Interview Coordinator. Interviews may be scheduled most days that classes are in session and/or the appropriate faculty members are present. Detailed information on interview requirements may be found on our Interview Requirements page. Applicants will have the option to interview on campus, at our Chicago auditions, or virtually.
