        The Millikin Symphonic Wind Ensemble offers an unparalleled experience in musicianship.  The Symphonic Wind Ensemble has flourished in Central Illinois and beyond, performing at state and regional conventions, and on tour in New York City and the Dominican Republic. Frequent guest conductors and soloists have visited Millikin to perform with the MSWE. Notable guest conductors include Stephen Eggelston, Garrett Gillingham, Robert Grechesky, Charles Menghini, John P. Paynter, and Colonel Thomas Rotundi and conductor/composers Brian Balmages, Mark Camphouse, Scott Ninmer, Michael Schelle, and Robert W. Smith. Notable guest soloists include Millikin faculty members, Harvey Phillips (tuba), Ronald Romm (trumpet), and Peter Steiner (trombone). The Symphonic Wind Ensemble has commissioned and premiered recent works by Garrett Gillingham and Daniel Morel, and has participated in consortia with composers David Gillingham, Libby Larsen, John Mackey, David Maslanka, Scott Ninmer, Michael Schelle, Joseph Schwantner, and John Stevens. Recent collaborations include works with student dancers and choreographers from Millikin's School of Theater and Dance and a variety of video production personnel.
