DECATUR, Ill. – Millikin University’s Kirkland Fine Arts Center presents platinum-selling, veteran swing rockers Cherry Poppin’ Daddies, a.k.a. The Daddies, on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 7:30 p.m., for a one-night-only unique ska/punk/jazz experience!

The Daddies perform at Millikin's Kirkland Fine Arts Center on Saturday, Jan. 25.

Fresh off the release of their new album “At the Pink Rat” on July 26, 2024, which features the hit single “Take it Off, Stella,” The Daddies are the kind of band that you would want to book if you were throwing a soirée at the Gatsby mansion. Penning elegant, lush, pitch-perfect arrangements of much of the great American songbook, from Cole Porter to Frank Sinatra, the Daddies have surprised many who are more familiar with them from the early ’90s and the punk/ska scene.

Cherry Poppin' Daddies are a genre-defying band formed in 1989 in Eugene, Oregon, blending swing, ska, punk, and jazz to create a high-energy and unforgettable sound. Initially rooted in the underground punk scene, the band soon made waves with their unique fusion of swing-era jazz and modern rock elements, gaining a reputation for their explosive live performances.

The Daddies

They burst into the mainstream in 1997 with the release of “Zoot Suit Riot,” an album celebrating the swing revival of the late 1990s. The title track became an instant hit, propelling the band to international fame and selling over two million copies.

Their music speaks to die-hard swing fans and those seeking something new and different. For new fans, Cherry Poppin' Daddies offer an exciting journey through American music on their latest recording, “At The Pink Rat,” a 12-song swing high-energy album experimenting with 40's Big Band, Ragtime Hot Jazz, slap bass Rockabilly, and much more.
