Millikin opening its doors to Iowa Wesleyan University students

Millikin will assist students affected by the IW closure with a tuition-matching program

IW Match

DECATUR, Ill. – Millikin University is opening its doors to Iowa Wesleyan University students affected by the recent closure of the institution announced on March 28, 2023.

Millikin University is announcing a tuition match for undergraduate and graduate students at Iowa Wesleyan who choose to transfer to Millikin.

"Our hearts go out to all those who have been affected by the closure of Iowa Wesleyan.  When small colleges or universities close, it's a loss for us all in higher education and diminishes our ability to serve all students in the ways in which they thrive,” Millikin President Jim Reynolds said. “As part of our desire to help those affected students at Iowa Wesleyan, we have created the ‘IW Match’ program where students from Iowa Wesleyan can transfer to Millikin with no additional out-of-pocket costs for tuition."

Under the "IW Match," students transferring to Millikin will pay the same amount of tuition to Millikin that they would have paid at Iowa Wesleyan for the coming academic year. Transferring students will be eligible to lease available housing through Millikin University and are also eligible for transfer grants and/or scholarships. Additionally, Iowa Wesleyan students who transfer to Millikin with senior-year status may also be eligible for existing housing discounts.

To be considered for the “IW Match” program, students should submit the free Millikin University application for admission at millikin.edu/apply.

Students should also submit official transcripts from all previously attended colleges and universities from which transfer credit may apply. Unofficial transcripts may be used to initiate the admission process, but official transcripts will be required in order to register for the first semester of study at Millikin University.

For International students, in addition to the items listed above, they should send a copy of their passport, I-20 transfer form and proof of funding for one year of study at Millikin University to international@millikin.edu.

Millikin University will work with each Iowa Wesleyan student one-on-one so that the path to degree completion is clear and understood. Representatives from Millikin's Office of Admission will follow up with students individually to discuss a study plan and timeline for completing their degree at Millikin.
