Active Arts Adventure

Come get active- and get your Arts!  Students will enjoy music, dance, drama, movement, and visual arts. 

June 9 - 13, 2025

Where: Central Christian Church

Register by: June 1, 2024

Choose from 3 sessions:

Morning session: $100

ages preschool - entering 6th grade

9 am - noon

Parents are invited to join us at 11a.m.  on the final day of camp for an informal showcase of all the things we have learned throughout the week. 

Afternoon session: $100

ages k - entering 6th grade

1 - 4 pm.

Parents are invited to join us at 3p.m. on the final day of this camp for an informal showcase of all the things we have learned throughout the week.  

Full Day: $225

Ages 5 - entering 6th grade

9 am - 4 pm

Parents are invited to join us at 11 am (morning session) and (3 pm) on the final day of camp for an informal showcase of all the things we have learned throughout the week.  

Morning and Afternoon sessions will not repeat material.

Tuition includes a t-shirt and daily snack.  Campers will be divided into age-appropriate groups.

 

Back In The Habit!

Play in the band or orchestra? Come brush the cobwebs off your instruments and get back in the habit of playing before school starts.

This camp is intended for students entering 5th-7th grade who have had one or two years playing experience and would like to get ready for band/orchestra auditions and playing.

Who: those entering 5- 7th grade, 1 – 2 years playing experience in their band or orchestra.

Where: Perkinson School of Music

First Gig Rock n Roll Camp

Learn how to be a rock star! Led by seasoned professional musicians, students will learn the ropes of how to be in a rock band. 

Students will participate in daily private lessons in their area (guitar, bass, drums, vocals) and will also be assigned to a band that will prepare for a performance while also recording in Millikin's renowned studio Millitrax, and learning how to market themselves with logo/t-shirt. Program culminates in a Rock Concert on Saturday.

The camp offers opportunities for bass, drums, guitar, horns, keys, and vocals. 

When: July 21 - 26

Who: Ages 10 – 17 are welcome 

Where: Perkinson Music Center

Millikin Film Camp

This camp is offered to students ages 14 and up. Students will write, shoot, edit and premier a short film, including the opportunity to pitch film ideas and contribute to collaborative writing via a writing workshop.

Students will have access to professional film gear, such as the Black Magic Cinema 4K cine camera, Small Rig lighting, Holly Land transmitters and Rode microphones. You will then work in Adobe software to edit; color correct and color grade their film.

The film will be premiered at the Kirkland Fine Arts Center.

This is a fast paced, intensive camp full of creativity and hands-on learning.

Milllikin Summer Piano Camp 

Over the course of six days, intermediate to advanced students will have the opportunity to refine their skills at our all-Steinway school under the guidance of Dr. Chung-Ha Kim and Dr. Jun Hong 'Ivan' Jiang.

Activities include masterclasses, private lessons, pedagogical presentations, collaborative piano, faculty and student recitals, and competition opportunities.

This camp will conclude with a formal student gala recital in Kaeuper Hall, which will be open to the public. Additionally, participants will have a chance to enter the Millikin Piano Camp Competition and compete for awards and $4,000 Millikin Music Scholarship.

Who: Ages 12 – Adult, intermediate to advanced players welcome

Where: Perkinson Music Center

Fee:  $400 – Commuter

         $625 – Resident

Includes: instruction, lunch, t-shirt, room and board (for overnight campers)

 

ORFF the Record

Students will explore the art of composition and improvisation using traditional classroom instruments, such as xylophones, drums, and bells, instruments for children under the direction of composer Carl Orff.

Students will work cooperatively to create compositions inspired by literature in addition to learning several arrangements. Tuition includes a t-shirt and daily snack.

June 16 - 20, 2025

1 pm – 4 pm

Who: Students entering 1st grade - entering 4th grade

Where: Perkinson Music Center

Pre-School Music Bootcamp

Using children’s literature as our guide, we will explore a daily theme and experience it through music and movement.  In addition, children will have the opportunity to explore many classroom instruments such as xylophones and drums.

Tuition includes a t-shirt and daily snack.  All participants must be potty-trained. 

June 16 - 20, 2025

9 am-noon

Who: Ages 3 - 5

Where: Perkinson Music Center

RAP-U!

Are you a young rapper or producer ready to level up your skills? Join RAP-U and dive into the world of hip-hop while learning new techniques and exploring the culture.

The course will cover the history of hip-hop and connections to social justice, beat-making and music production, rapping, writing and creative expression, professional studio time at Suite 704, and a performance for family and friends

No previous musical experience needed and past students are encouraged to return.

When: June 23-27

Time: 1 - 6 pm

Age: Middle School – High School

Summer Sings!

Come join the fun for a full day of camp with Summer Sings and wild Arts Camps! You provide the sack lunch and we provide the fun!

Summer Sings engages students in singing and movement.  It is for kids who LOVE to sing and culminates in a performance on the final day of camp. 

Each day, campers will build upon the previous day as they learn music and movement, as well as choose an elective, such as ukulele, boomwhackers, or dance.  No prior experience necessary!  Campers will be divided into age-appropriate groups. 

Tuition includes a t-shirt for each camp and morning and afternoon snacks.
