Born on November 7, 1945, to Leo and Dorothy Horn, Jane was raised in Sullivan, IL. She graduated from Sullivan High School before pursuing her bachelor's degree at Millikin University and her master's degree at Southern Illinois University.
On September 2, 1967, Jane married Stephen Buxton. While Steve served in the Air Force, Jane taught elementary education across the U.S., eventually settling in Dallas to raise their family. Jane taught Developmental Reading at Richland Community College for over 30 years, impacting countless lives with her commitment to education. Beyond her classroom, her home was a haven, where she cared for her daughters and nurtured her garden. Her dogs - Apatchy, Barkley, Jackson, Wrigley, and Tyger - were cherished companions. Jane's kindness extended to all, brightening days at nearby restaurants like Jason's Deli and Campisi's, where she often enjoyed lunch, spreading warmth with her smile and friendly conversations.
