Harriette Mae Schmick, 82, of Salisbury passed away Monday, September 4, 2023 at TidalHealth in Salisbury. Born November 20, 1940 she was the daughter of the late Walter John Renken and Harriett Black Renken.
Harriette was initiated at Millikin University into Zeta Tau Alpha International Fraternity. She was president of Tau Chapter and served as Province President in Maryland and founded the Theta Delta Chapter. She graduated from the University of Illinois and received her Master’s Degree at Salisbury University where she met her husband David. She was a teacher for 30 years and taught at Pocomoke Middle School for 25 of those years. She was a member of the Loyal Order of the Eastern Star and served as Grand Esther, Past Worthy Matron of Wicomico 91, was initiated into Crescent Chapter in Pocomoke. She served on many committees for her chapters and the Grand Chapter of Maryland Order of the Eastern Star. For almost 50 years, she has been an active member of Wicomico Presbyterian Church, enjoyed sewing and taught herself to knit.
