Former Millikin Football Assistant Coach Hired by Carolina Panthers

Jonathan Cooley started his professional coaching career with the Big Blue in 2011

DECATUR – Former Millikin University Football Assistant Coach Jonathan Cooley was recently named the Carolina Panthers’ new Defensive Backs/Cornerbacks Coach. Cooley is one of the first hirings by new Panthers head coach Frank Reich, who was named head coach in January after leading the Indianapolis Colts from 2018-2022.

Cooley started his coaching career at Millikin in 2011 as a first-year coaching intern under then-Big Blue Head Coach Patrick Etherton. Cooley spent the previous three seasons coaching with the Los Angeles Rams, last serving as Defensive Backs Coach during the 2022 season. He helped the Rams win a Super Bowl championship during the 2021 season. Before joining the Rams in 2019, Cooley coached at the University of Kentucky, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, Kent State and the University of Akron. Read more about Cooley’s hiring HERE.
