Donald R. Augspurger, Class of 1955

Donald attended Millikin University earning a Bachelor of Science in Education, and then Western Illinois University earning a Master of Science in Education Administration. He was employed by Springfield School District #186 for 35 years as a teacher and Principal. Donald was a veteran of the U.S. Army and had served in Germany as a Court Reporter for Special Court Martials. He was an active member of Springfield First, IBT Sunday School Class, and Springfield First Choir for 65 years, and he served on numerous church councils and boards. Donald was an Eagle Scout and served as Assistant Scoutmaster Troop 11 in Springfield and helped guide his three sons to their Eagle Scout Awards. He was a Red Coat at Springfield Memorial Hospital for many years, a member of Downtown Rotary Club, and was awarded Rotary's Paul Harris Service Award. Donald also volunteered at the Midwest Mission Distribution Center, and he enjoyed traveling, reading, and following Fighting Illini football and basketball. Don took great pride in his family and treasured sharing 65 special years with his wife, Pat.
