In 1968, Dixie graduated from Millikin University, Decatur with a degree in education. She taught in Tuscola and Bluffs but spent much of her career teaching for the Triopia School District.
Dixie married John Williams on November 24, 1973 and became proud parents of three active boys: Scott, Christopher, and Lucas.
Dixie was an avid reader and enjoyed decorating her home, modeling, and crocheting. She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Meredosia until its closing when she transferred membership to Faith Lutheran Church of Jacksonville. Dixie also was a member of PEO Sisterhood and adored her book club.
