MOUNT ZION - Cynthia A. Petty, 75, of Mt. Zion, IL, passed away at 2:55 p.m., Sunday, July 14, 2024, with her family by her side.
Cynthia was born on October 24, 1948, and grew up in Bethany, IL, the daughter of William and Marguerite (Shuck) McIlwain. She married Joe Petty on June 6, 1970. Cynthia was a graduate of Millikin University and went on to obtain her Master's in Education from Eastern Illinois University. She had been a member of Phi Beta Pi Sorority. Cynthia was a retired six grade teacher having taught at the Mt. Zion Intermediate School. She loved to tend her garden and enjoyed reading. She was passionate about attending her grandkids sporting events.
