Creativity Takes Many Forms
The School of Theatre and Dance offers five major degree programs and two minor programs all within the context of a liberal arts education. Competent craftsmanship, creativity, and the development of artistic responsibility are emphasized throughout a student's career. Students are admitted to the BFA programs based upon auditions and/or interviews and only after being admitted to the University. Students must pass a second audition/interview at the end of their freshman year to continue in BFA programs.
Our Method based acting program combines conservatory style training with a liberal arts education to build a sturdy foundation on which to build a professional career.
Students in the Design and Production program engage in mentorships with faculty and graduate with portfolios containing fully realized production designs from our Mainstage season.
Students are well prepared for careers in Musical Theatre upon completion this rigorous training program which places equal focus on acting, vocal training. and dance.
Students become professionally competitive while gaining strong leadership and organizational skills through the practice of stage managing a variety of productions in our three vastly different performance spaces.
Flexibility is key in this degree program offering students the opportunity to pursue multiple interests or develop their own unique course of study suited to their personal career goals.
The Minor in Theatre offers non majors with a passion for Theatre Arts excellent opportunities to become involved with our production season, with Pipe Dreams Studio Theatre, and other departmental activities.
The Minor in Dance is a perfect fit for those dancers wishing continue their training or pursue performance opportunities, or for those with a passion for dance to become acquainted with a variety of techniques.
