Dr. Melissa McManus Scircle has a bachelor's degree from Indiana University Bloomington and a master's and doctoral degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
ResearchDr, Scircle's research expertise is in stereotyping and prejudice. She is especially interested in how to reduce stereotyping and prejudice and increase inclusion efforts in various domains. Dr. Scircle supervises a by-invitation Psychology Research Group and loves to work with students on Independent Research Projects - if you have an idea for a research project, just ask!
TeachingDr. Scircle teaches Introductory Psychology, Experimental Psychology, Social Psychology, Social Cognition, and The Psychology of Stereotyping and Prejudice on a regular rotation. She ocasionally teaches for the Honors College, most recently teaching Pandemic Psychology online in Fall 2020. In Spring 2021, she will teach Psychology of Close Relationships.
University ServiceDr. Scircle currently serves on the University IRB, Council on Faculty, the Pre-Professional Committee, the Gender Studies Committee, and the African-American Studies Committee. One of the best things about doing service work is getting to collaborate with colleagues across the university.
When she's not working. . .Dr. Scircle loves to read, exercise, and spend time with her family. Her not-so-guilty pleasure is watching reality TV shows and snuggling her cats once her kids are asleep!
