Professor and Creative Arts Coordinator

Jana earned her B.A. from William Jewell College and M.F.A. at The University of Missouri-Kansas City. Her professional costume work includes Kansas City Repertory Theatre, Kansas City Ballet, The Lyric Opera, St. Louis MUNY, Starlight Theatre, The Coterie Theatre, The Unicorn Theatre, and Little Theatre on the Square among others. She has experience in design for television and has worked as a key costumer for film. Her research interests include dye techniques of Japan, India and Pakistan, and integrating new technologies into costume processes. She is the Commissioner of the Costume Commission for the United States Institute for Theatre Technology (USITT) and serves on the Board of the Midwest Section of USITT. She is a founding member of the Theatrical Costume Educator’s Association and is a member of the Costume Society of America and has presented to the Dress & Body Association. Jana teaches courses in Costume Design & Technology, Fast Fashion, and Digital Fabrication as well as travel immersion courses through England, Ireland, France Switzerland and Italy. She also teaches Designing Disney at Walt Disney World.
