Dr. Brandon Cockburn (he/him) is the Associate Dean and Director for Student Success. He holds a Ph.D. in Cultural Studies and Social Theory in Education (2024) from Washington State University. In addition, Dr. Cockburn holds an M.Ed. in Instructional Leadership (2018) and a B.S. in Biological Sciences (2016) from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Dr. Cockburn supports student success from a holistic perspective that focuses on academic readiness, career and vocational development, and personal development and reflection. Giving oversight to student supports, Dr. Cockburn oversees the accommodation process for student accommodations and the Title III project.
His research and scholarship focus on pedagogy and praxis at the secondary education level. He still does active support and consulting for K-12 education, in addition to his new focus on Higher Education systems and processes.
Dr. Cockburn is an active member of several institutional councils, committees, and task forces to strengthen Millikin and its commitment to holistic student support.
