This position serves as a part-time bus and/or van driver for the institution. Represents the university with professional driving and service to our campus community users. This position will require travel, some of which may be overnight and extended stays.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Safe operation of university vehicles in the performance of their duties
- Pre-trip safety inspections of assigned vehicle
- Trip planning for most efficient and safe route
- Post-trip safety inspections of vehicle and correct notification of any noted deficiencies
- Function as a University Ambassador of goodwill
- Transport vehicles for off-site maintenance and inspections
- Pick up or shuttle vehicles as needed
- Other job-related duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position does not have supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to succeed in a result-driven professional organization. Maintaining professional performance, demeanor, team-approach and focus on results while working under pressure in a dynamic environment. Customer, budget, quality, and delivery conscious mindset. Ability to establish priorities, work independently with minimal supervision and facilitate teamwork. Highly organized, with the ability to plan, execute and multitask to meet deadlines with accuracy and attention to detail.
Minimum Education and/or Experience:
- High School Diploma/GED preferred.
- 1-2 years prior professional (CDL) driving experience.
- Minimum age of 21 due to interstate travel expectations
- Bus and/or vehicle maintenance experience preferred.
- Valid “B” Commercial Driver’s License with passenger endorsements
- Current Department of Transportation (DOT) medical card preferred.
- First aid/CPR/AED preferred.
- Attention to detail.
- Time management
- Work prioritization to meet deadlines.
- Ability to adapt and adjust on short notice.
- Mental toughness to perform duties during adverse conditions.
