Job Summary: The Athletic Trainer assists the Director of Sports Medicine in developing and implementing the sports medicine program for intercollegiate athletics.

Primary Responsibilities:
Injury prevention, evaluation, management, treatment, and rehabilitation for student athletes
Assist with educational program and counseling for student-athletes.
Assist with all aspects of the sports medicine program.
Other Duties:
1. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Sports Medicine
Minimum Position Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training, Kinesiology, or a directly related field (Master’s Degree preferred)
Certification by the NATA Board of Certification
License from the Illinois’ Department of Licensing and Professional Regulation
Knowledge of intercollegiate sports programs
Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology
Knowledge of medical care, prevention, and treatment of athletic injuries
Ability to work harmoniously and effectively with others
Ability to perform the duties of a licensed/certified athletic trainer
Good verbal and written communication skills

Dexterity to operate a keyboard
Physical Effort:
Position requires long periods of standing, with intermittent sitting, walking, reaching, bending, and grasping.
Occasionally lifting 25 lbs. or more
Hearing and visual acuity within normal range
Working Conditions:
Incumbent works both in and outdoors, and has periodic exposure to dust, pollen, heat, cold and inclement weather
