The School of Exercise Science and Sport is accepting applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Sport and Recreation Management, to begin on August 1, 2026. 

We seek dynamic student-focused candidates with expertise in Sport and Recreation Management or closely related fields. Areas of specialization may include, but are not limited to, sport communication, marketing, media, sales, sport economics, or physical education.

Strong candidates will demonstrate experience working with professional, collegiate, or community sport organizations. They will prioritize teaching excellence and embrace a student-centered approach that supports diverse learners. 

Responsibilities

  • Teach a range of undergraduate courses (24 credit hours per academic year). 
  • Advise and mentor students in course selection, research, and post-graduate planning.
  • Develop and maintain a focused research agenda. 
  • Provide service to the community, helping to enhance experiential learning opportunities.
  • Contribute to the governance and mission of the institution.
  • Maintain engagement with relevant professional organizations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in Sport and Recreation Management or a closely related field is required for appointment at the Assistant Professor level.
  • Candidates with a master’s degree in Sport and Recreation Management or a closely related field may be considered for an Instructor position.
  • Demonstrated oral proficiency in the English language as required by state law.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous teaching experience in Sport and Recreation Management.
  • Experience working with professional, collegiate, or community sports organizations.
  • Evidence of an active research agenda and a record of peer-reviewed scholarship.
  • Commitment to inclusive, student-centered teaching practices.
