A True Blue Thank You

Each year, when I welcome our new class of first-year, transfer and graduate students, I am careful to note that Millikin has long been a great university, but I go on to say, “If we all work together, Millikin will be a better place because you are here.” On April 30, as we came together in support of our students for the 2018 True Blue Scholarship Challenge, we made Millikin better.

Simply put, thank you.

Over 1,100 donors responded to the very real financial need of our students. Because of you, we raised more than $260,000 in support of student scholarships. Because of you, we achieved our donor goal, and received $100,000 from our corporate partners, Tate & Lyle and Hickory Point Bank, and anonymous donors. Because of you, students like Joshua Miller ’18, an appreciative Long-Vanderburg Scholar, will continue to perform and thrive at Millikin and beyond.

Thank you for being the example to our students – for showing them that Millikin is your university. In so doing you inspired in them a sense of ownership and loyalty that will benefit Millikin for years to come. This sense of ownership comes with pride in who we are and what we have accomplished, but even more it is borne in hope and promise as we work together to discover and perform our best imagination of what we can become.

Thank you for all you do to move Millikin forward.

Sincerely yours in Millikin,

Patrick E. White

Building on Foundations

Celebrating Momentum

This spring, we ask you to continue your support of MU students during the True Blue Scholarship Challenge.

With your help, we can reach this year’s goal of 1,000 donors during our fifth-annual Challenge. If we meet our donor goal, MU students will receive $100,000 from anonymous donors and corporate partners, including Tate & Lyle and Hickory Point Bank.

Each year, 99 percent of Millikin students receive some form of financial aid, including annual scholarships.

With scholarship assistance, students are able to pursue a Millikin education. You and your fellow alumni have the opportunity to continue Millikin’s tradition of Performance Learning by donating to Annual Scholarships.

Your Gifts in Action

Your generosity impacted the lives of students, such as Cody and Whitney, helping them to receive a quality MU education and experience the opportunities Performance Learning provides.

“Millikin has developed me into a global leader through the Long-Vanderburg Scholars Program. I first came to Millikin to further my soccer career but chose to stay because of the support of the faculty and the opportunities that MU provided. Next fall, I will study abroad in Australia for a semester, and this experience would not be possible without the help of the LV Program and the Center for International Education. I couldn't be happier that I chose to #MakeItMillikin.”

“Science students are required to do a research project at Millikin and many schools don’t offer these types of experiences. I think it’s an incredible opportunity to understand the knowledge of what’s involved and what goes into a research project. As part of my Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship and James Millikin Scholar research, we learn field work as well as lab work.”
