Life Experience Means Something at Millikin

You may have knowledge from your life experiences that could translate into college credit. As an adult student, you have acquired learning not just in the classroom but also from one of these ways:

  • Work experience
  • Volunteer experience
  • Job training
  • Independent study
  • Military service
  • Open source courseware study

That could equal money and time saved toward your degree! Millikin offers several ways for you to seek credit for college-level learning. You can choose the method that's best for you, whether that be standardized exams or transferring in credit already evaluated from American Council of Education (ACE) approved professional training experiences.

Standardized exams

ACE approved training experiences

Millikin works with the American Council of Education (ACE) and the College Credit Recommendation Service to award credit for courses, apprenticeships, certification, and training received from sources other than college and university degree programs. You may have already completed the work required to earn college credit in on of these types of training programs:

  • Professional associations
  • Volunteer associations
  • Training suppliers
  • Labor unions

There might already be a recommendation for college credit waiting for you! Adult learners may search the National Guide for courses recommended for college credit.

Requesting the credit

Once you have identified the credits you have earned, you may request a transcript to be sent to Millikin for completed credit recommended courses by contacting ACE.
