DECATUR, Ill. – Millikin University’s Tabor School of Business Professor Dr. J. Mark Munoz was recently named the recipient of the Academy of Global Business Advancement (AGBA) Lifetime Achievement Award in Global Business.
“I am honored to be conferred the Lifetime Achievement Award in Global Business by the AGBA. I have received multiple awards throughout my career, but this one stands out for three seasons,” Mark said. “First, it is an acknowledgment of my accomplishments in a business field close to my heart and one I am passionate about – International Business. Second, lifetime achievement typically does not just mean success in one single endeavor but rather a multitude of endeavors over many years. Third, I am delighted to have the opportunity to share this honor with the administration, faculty, students, and alumni of Millikin University, as well as the Decatur community – who have all helped and supported me in many of my endeavors over the years.”
The ABGA helps academics and scholars at business schools across emerging countries to connect with the Western world. Mark will receive his honor next summer during the 20th edition of the ABGA Global Conference held in Bangkok, Thailand, on July 8-10, 2024.
“AGBA is honored to have Dr. Mark Munoz as one of its esteemed members. AGBA has previously recognized his work as a top global scholar and distinguished business dean. Our organization is aware of his multiple other awards in teaching and research by other highly reputable international business and academic organizations over the years,” AGBA Founder, President and CEO Dr. Zafar U. Ahmed said. “In light of the fact that Dr. Munoz has consistently performed at the highest levels in both business and academia as an entrepreneur, educator, scholar and author and has made many impactful and lasting contributions to the practice of global business, AGBA will confer upon him its highly prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award in Global Business.”
In the spring of 2023, Mark was named a finalist for the Triple E Male Entrepreneurial Leader of the Year Award. He finished as runner-up overall from the judges and won first place based on the community voting (People’s Choice) portion of the competition.
At the AGBA Conference in July, Mark will give a keynote presentation on his 2023 book from Routledge titled “Digital Entrepreneurship and the Global Economy.”
“The digital economy is expected to contribute about $60 trillion in revenue by 2025. Its entrepreneurial practice includes artificial intelligence, blockchain, internet of things, and augmented reality, among others,” Mark said. “In my presentation, I will highlight the value proposition of the practice of digital entrepreneurship, the challenges as well as pathways to success.”
Additionally, Mark is working on three upcoming projects that touch on the themes of technology and business management.
“I am currently working on three book projects: Technology Entrepreneurship: Perspectives in Science and Engineering, Digital Leadership: Concepts and Cases, and Evolution of Management Practice. Through these projects, I am hoping to continue advancing theories as well as practical ideas on ways to find business and management success worldwide.
