DECATUR, Ill. – Millikin University Business Professor Dr. J. Mark Munoz has been named a finalist for the 2023 Male Entrepreneurial Leader of the Year (Education Champion) Award by the Triple E Awards hosted by the Accreditation Council for Entrepreneurial & Engaged Universities (ACEEU).

The Male Entrepreneurial Leader of the Year (Education Champion) Award recognizes a man who has demonstrated an outstanding leadership performance in the development of an institution’s entrepreneurial profile. Candidates are evaluated on their entrepreneurial competencies and leadership, impact and support of minorities and young leaders.

“When I heard that I was a finalist, I was elated. I knew that the Triple E Award was very selective and highly competitive,” Mark said. “I felt honored to be ranked among the top entrepreneurial leaders and educators. Regardless of the outcome, I am thrilled to be recognized for my work and for the opportunity to promote the Millikin name and brand on the global stage.”

Mark is a prolific author, publishing more than 25 books across disparate topics, with his three book projects that supported minority entrepreneurship – “Hispanic Latino Entrepreneurship,” “African American Entrepreneurs” and “Native American Entrepreneurs” – standing out in his mind.

“I am most proud of those three book projects. They were challenging to do and there were limited references on these topics. It required hundreds of interviews nationwide and countless hours of research and writing,” Mark said. “Yet, the journey was quite fulfilling. Through the book projects, I learned and became inspired by the courage, passion, savvy and grit demonstrated by minority entrepreneurs. There are so many valuable, memorable and real-life lessons from these books that one would not find in a typical entrepreneurship textbook or an entrepreneurship class. I hope the stories and shared insights from these books will educate and inspire young leaders and entrepreneurs worldwide for many years.”
