One of many paintings of island life, this painting looks directly at the spot where Karen Shiman restored the coral reef around the island of Bonaire, an island in the Caribbean Sea that’s also a special municipality of the Netherlands. The island is home to the Bonaire National Marine Park and includes the coral reef. After 14 years of work, Karen and her husband rebuilt a reef system by moving rocks, one by one.
