College Radio Day is a celebration of the contribution of college radio stations to the larger culture and a tribute to the lasting legacy of college broadcasting. Without college radio, artists like Public Enemy, R.E.M. and the Red Hot Chili Peppers never would have broken big. Airplay on college stations, both in small and major markets, brought this music to the people and the people then brought it to the world! College radio is a proudly non-commercial platform for artists and subjects that commercial stations won't or don't touch.
