- The MSN to DNP (FNP) consists of 50-54 credit hours and includes 800+ clinical hours.
- For MSN to DNP (FNP) applicants, preference will be given to those with at least one year of full time registered professional nursing experience.
Getting Into the Program
The School of Nursing participates in Nursing’s Centralized Application Service (NursingCAS). All materials will be submitted through NursingCAS (http://nursingcas.org/).
NursingCAS collects and processes your application documents and verifies your transcripts. We receive information NursingCas and use it to make our admission decision. We recommend that you order all official transcripts from all college experiences as early in the process as possible. NursingCAS provides detailed information on the transcript process for all applicants. Millikin University requires course-by-course evaluations for transcripts from foreign institutions and we accept evaluations from World Education Services, Inc. (WES) and Educational Credential Evaluators, Inc. (ECE).
Admission Requirements
- Complete the DNP (FNP) application - found on NursingCAS.
- Upload all official transcripts from all graduate and undergraduate institutions attended and demonstrate a minimum undergraduate grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Show evidence of MSN core courses (Advanced Pathophysiology Across the Lifespan, Advanced Pharmacology Across the Lifespan, Advanced Health Assessment Across the Lifespan and Application of Theory to Practice) as well as a Health Care Policy course and a graduate level statistics course prior to enrollment or by the end of the first semester of DNP (FNP) coursework.
- Possess an unencumbered/ unrestricted license as an RN in Illinois or be eligible and obtain upon admission.
- Provide three (3) written recommendations as described on the application from.
- Submit a written statement (see application for details).
- Submit a current resume or curriculum vita that demonstrates clinical nursing experience.
- MSN to DNP (FNP) applicants, preference will be given to those with at least one year of full time registered professional nursing experience.
- Select candidates will be invited to interview.
After Acceptance
Following acceptance of an offered position, satisfactory credentialing to confirm acceptability into clinical experiences must occur. The failure to obtain credentialing results in the inability to obtain required clinical experiences and, therefore, the forfeiture of the offered position. The credentialing process requires the following be submitted prior to enrollment:
- Position deposit and letter of position acceptance
- Background Check
- Immunizations
- State of IL Professional Registered Nurse Licensure
Orientation for new students entering the DNP (FNP) will be held on campus prior to beginning of classes in January.
