Event planning and requests for review should begin no later than 90 days prior to the proposed event date to allow sufficient time for appropriate review, approval, and promotion.
Sponsoring Organization/Department Responsibilities: A guest speaker must be sponsored by a University organization or department. Additionally, requests for hosting a guest speaker must be submitted using 25Live to ensure space and appropriate logistical support.
Guest speakers invited by faculty for academic purposes, and presenting in University classrooms or lecture halls, are covered by academic freedom, provided the audience is limited to the University community. Unless the guest speaker is from outside the University, extends beyond regular class time, requires a venue outside the classroom, or is not directly tied to a course/curriculum, you do not need to proceed with submitting this form.
Event must first be approved by Student Affairs.
All speaker contracts must include an agreement that the University may cancel, postpone or cut the event short if a clear and present danger to the campus community exists. Additionally, individuals should request that contracts do not require advance payment.
