Idea-to-Incubator Competition

Have an idea that you would like to make into a reality? Participate in the Idea-to-Incubator Competition held during Celebrations of Scholarship on Friday, April 28, 2017! Pitch your idea for the chance to win access to Decatur’s co-working space or up to $100 towards monthly fees at a co-working space in your hometown. You will also receive specialized mentorship, including a lead mentor and up to three additional mentors!

Competition is open to all Millikin students, faculty and staff, Executive and Fast-Track MBA students, and alumni that have graduated within the past 2 years. A maximum of 3 students may participate on an Idea Team.

The top four teams will spend May-July developing their ideas, then compete for up to $1,500 of seed money at the beginning of the 2017-2018 school year. Application deadline is Friday, April 14, 2017.

Idea Design Workshops

Idea Design Workshops will be offered for free during the weeks of March 27th, April 3rd, and April 10th. Workshop facilitators will assist Idea Teams in strengthening the impact and feasibility of their idea before the finalists are announced on April 20, 2017.

Generation Startup Movie Showing

Join the Center for Entrepreneurship, Office of Inclusion and Student Engagement, DECA, UCB and Student Senate for a free showing of the movie Generation Startup

A celebration of young people who have the determination, resilience and courage to follow their dreams and work hard to build something: Generation Startup captures the struggles and triumphs of six recent college graduates who put everything on the line to build startups in Detroit. Filmed over 17 months, it provides an honest, visceral and inspiring look at what it takes to launch a company and navigate life after college.
