Millikin University is committed to fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment. Hazing is prohibited by anyone and will not be tolerated in any form by the University, its students or its recognized student organizations.
In compliance with the Stop Campus Hazing Act, Millikin University completed its federally required Campus Hazing Transparency Report which amends the Clery Act and applies to all institutions receiving federal financial aid.

For the reporting period of June 1, 2025, through December 31, 2025, Millikin University had zero findings of responsibility for hazing violations involving recognized student organizations. This report excludes personally identifiable student information in accordance with FERPA.

This report reflects only incidents that resulted in a formal institutional finding of responsibility. Millikin University encourages reporting of any suspected hazing, so concerns can be reviewed and addressed.
Hazing statistics, when applicable, are also included in the University’s Annual Security Report (ASR) in accordance with the Clery Act.

This Campus Hazing Transparency Report will be:
- Updated at least twice annually when applicable
- Archived and retained for a minimum of five years
- Made available in a prominent, publicly accessible location on the Millikin University website: https://millikin.edu/
Illinois Hazing Law (720 ILCS 120)
- Prohibits hazing that endangers mental or physical health
- Applies to organizations and individuals
- Does not require individual student names to be published
- Does not mandate a specific public reporting format

Hazing is an activity expected of someone joining or staying in a group that puts them at risk physically, mentally, or emotionally – even if they say they are okay with it. Hazing can happen in fraternities, sororities, teams, clubs, or any organization.

Students, employees, parents, or community members may make reports.

No. Consent does not make hazing okay. If an activity could harm, embarrass, pressure or endanger someone, it is still considered hazing under university policy and the law.

Yes, anonymous reporting options are available. You can also talk to Public Safety, Student Affairs, Residence Life, or another trusted university employee.

Federal privacy laws (FERPA) protect student information. Public reports focus on organizations and outcomes, not individual students.

Millikin University reviews reports using University policy, Illinois law and federal guidelines. A case is only included in the public report if there is a formal finding of responsibility.
Examples of Hazing:
- Forced drinking or substance use
- Sleep deprivation
- Humiliation or intimidation
- Physical punishment or excessive workouts
- Activities that interfere with academics
- Pressure to participate in unsafe or uncomfortable situations
