    • Planning ahead is essential. Coordinating rides in advance with trusted friends or carpooling is the most reliable way to get to your destination.
    • It is recommended that students plan at least 4 weeks in advance for travel on Fall Intermission, Fall Break, Winter Break, and Spring Break.

    Local Transportation Options

    Decatur Public Transit System supports regular local bus routes with regular and monthly passes – fare information is available on their site. 

    Decatur Moves is a local, shorter distance micro transit option similar to rideshare, providing transportation within the city and to county lines. Please check the linked site for information on hours and download the app. Uber, Lyft, and other ridesharing services are not available in Decatur and is not recommended at this time, even if you can schedule it from other areas. 

    Baldwin Shuttle is a shuttle service based in Macon, IL that can travel longer distances. Shuttles require advance scheduling, but in emergencies, may be able to transport for an additional fee. Folks have used this shuttle to get to area trains, buses, and regional airports.

    Decatur Airport has two daily flights to and from Chicago O’Hare International Airport via United Airlines. Flights can be booked via United Airlines.

    Additional Travel Options

    Amtrak has several Midwest train routes linking to other areas nationally. The closest Amtrak stops to Decatur are Lincoln, Springfield, and Champaign, all 45 minutes from campus.

    Airport-Specific Travel Guidance

    Ride-share services like Uber should not be relied on for travel from Decatur to these airports.
