Internships

Student smiling

If you are looking for ways to make a difference, there are numerous opportunities to gain valuable real-world experience, develop important working relationships, and to develop a strong portfolio for employment beyond Millikin. Our students enjoy numerous experiences both on and off campus.

Performance Learning Extended Through Internships

An Arts Technology and Administration internship will provide students with the opportunity for Performance Learning through cooperation with an external company, organization, or individual. Students will collaborate with faculty to develop academic learning goals specific to the work of the external partner, and practice arts technology skills under the supervision of industry professionals.

To Potential Employers

If you or your company would like to partner with the Arts Technology and Administration Department to provide an off campus internship for our students in either the Arts Technology major, Multimedia Communication, or Arts Administration major please contact the Department Chair, Jessa Wilcoxen.

Requirements

  • 1 credit hour = 40 work hours.
  • After securing an internship, students must complete the Internship Contract and submit it to the reviewing faculty member in their concentration. This must be submitted by the final add/drop date of that term.
  • After securing an internship, students must satisfy your Millikin supervising faculty's internship grading requirements.

Internship Forms

Additional Policies

Students will not be assigned to an internship site. Students may find internship opportunities on their own, or may chose to interview for positions already identified. Students are advised to register through our College Central Network/Big Blue Jobs system so they are notified via email when jobs or internships relating to their interest are added. Some internships listed below are better suited for certain concentrations. Students should discuss the internship with faculty before applying to confirm it is a good fit for their career interests. Faculty can also help connect you with the proper departments of the positions you are seeking. On campus internships are more available for the Arts Administration major, the Multimedia Communciation, the Arts Technology Visual Media concentration and the Arts Technology Video Production concentration. Regardless, it is HIGHLY recommended that students participate in at least one internship off campus.
