Student Mental & Behavioral Health Ecila Deransburg-Cook

Ecila Deransburg-Cook graduated from Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing. She worked at Illinois Power in Customer Service and Public Affairs for 17 years, during which time she earned a Master of Science in Communication from Illinois State University in Bloomington-Normal. While at Illinois Power she became a licensed massage therapist and later opened a wellness business which focused on massage, yoga, and mindfulness. She currently manages Millikn’s Covid Collection Test Site, where she and a team of student workers facilitate Covid-19 testing to help make the college experience for students, faculty, and staff as normal and as safe as possible. Ecila grew up on the south side of Chicago and has lived and worked in Decatur since 1987. Her motto is “Don’t live your life in a hurry. You’ll miss something meant just for you.”
