The Coordinator of International Admissions is a person who possesses honed customer service and organizational skills and has the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. This position will support the recruitment and admission efforts for international students, serve as a secondary DSO in SEVIS. The primary responsibility of the Coordinator will be the accurate and timely processing of international student applications. The Coordinator must be committed to serving the University’s strategic goal to advance international enrollment. This is a 12-month position, reporting to the Dean of International Education.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:
Primary Responsibilities
- Support the Director of International Recruitment by communicating with international student applicants and provide general institutional information.
- Work closely with the Director of International Recruitment and serve as primary support for the CIE in processing international student applications and supporting admission documents.
- Stay abreast of best practices for the admission of international students and their rights and obligations regarding government regulations to enroll at Millikin University. Ability to serve as a secondary Designated School Official (DSO), as outlined by UCSIS, to issue initial form I-20.
- Monitor and manage the international email box.
- Support the international student community on campus during orientation, International Education Week, and other events hosted by the CIE.
- Ability to travel nationally for industry conferences. (i.e. NAFSA)
- Hire, train, and supervise student employees to ensure sufficient office coverage.
- Provide administrative support to the CIE staff by assisting with purchasing, expense reporting, room reservations, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position does not have supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws but may provide daily direction and assistance to student employees.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to succeed in a result-driven professional organization. Maintaining professional performance, demeanor, team-approach and focus on results while working under pressure in a dynamic environment. Customer, budget, quality and delivery conscious mindset. Ability to establish priorities, work independently with minimal supervision and facilitate teamwork. Highly organized, with the ability to plan, execute and multitask to meet deadlines with accuracy and attention to detail.
Minimum Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree (preferred) and/or equivalent job experience related to international admissions and/or administrative experience.
- Minimum of one-year previous experience preferred.
- Training as a DSO is a plus
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to work as a member of a team and under pressure
- Some evening and weekend hours are required.
