Family Nurse Practitioner

Overview
Program Highlights
Millikin University's Doctor of Nursing Practice: Family Nurse Practitioner DNP (FNP) is a clinical doctorate program that prepares BSN or MSN nurses to the highest level of clinical expertise and advanced practice nursing. Our students will receive personalized support from a dedicated nursing advisors and will be enrolled as a cohort group that will advance through the program together. In addition:
- Cohorts begin each January
- Part-time and full-time options offered
- Graduates are eligible to take the national certification examination and apply for licensure
- Clinical rotations are arranged by Millikin University faculty
As the environment of health care in our nation has become increasingly complex, the nursing profession has responded by advancing a practice doctorate, which ensures that professional nurses have both the practice expertise and the evidence-based scientific knowledge necessary to impact positively the quality and safety outcomes for patients. In addition, the growing national shortage of nursing faculty who are prepared at the doctoral level can be improved with the increase of DNP-prepared advanced practice nurses.
