Specialized Accreditation and Licensure

In addition to being accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, several programs hold discipline-specific accreditations or prepare our students for post-graduation licensure. Programs at Millikin University have been designed to meet licensure requirements within the State of Illinois.

Millikin University has been approved to participate in the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA). This permits Millikin to offer distance learning programs and coursework to residents of states other than Illinois. NC-SARA membership, however, does not grant reciprocity or exempt students from state professional licensing requirements in other states. As each state has its own licensure requirements, students seeking licensure within other states should contact the licensing authorities within that state prior to enrolling in that academic program; links have been provided below when applicable.

o   The Millikin University and Decatur Memorial Hospital Nurse Anesthesia Program is accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA), 222 S. Prospect Ave., Park Ridge, IL 60068, 847.655.1160. (http://coacrna.org/)

o   Nursing students successfully graduating from a CCNE accredited school are eligible to take the national NCLEX exam for nurse licensure.  Graduates may choose to take the certification exam within the state where their nursing school is located or apply to any other state in the United States to take the exam and become licensed within that state.  Information on NCLEX licensure for nurses is found at: https://www.nclex.com.
