Opened in Spring of 2024 as part of Millikin’s new $3.2 million Health Sciences Center, the Campbell Family Nursing Simulation Center provides cutting-edge instruction opportunities for students in Millikin’s School of Nursing. The center features:
Four state-of-the-art simulation rooms that mimic a doctor's office, as well as obstetrics/pediatrics and hospital room settings
Control rooms with two-way mirrors that allow instructors to monitor and direct students' work
High-tech "simulator" mannequins that serve as real-time "patients"
These spaces allow students to experience hands-on, real-world scenarios essential to the education and training of those entering the healthcare profession.
A generous gift by Susan Campbell supported the creation and naming of the center. The Campbell Family has a passion for the nursing field and hopes this facility will provide exceptional instruction for students to become highly trained, committed, dedicated, compassionate leaders in their field. Campbell is a former Millikin School of Nursing student and, along with her late husband, R. Michael Campbell ‘67, have been very active Big Blue alumni. They were also the co-recipients of the 2016 Alumnus of the Year award, the highest alumni award presented by Millikin.
Along with the Campbell Family Nursing Simulation Center, the Health Sciences Center also features a Health Assessment Lab where Nursing students can sharpen their skills, a collaborative graduate learning space, and office space for faculty and staff.
