New meets old in the historic Perkinson Music Center filled with the latest music technology. From traditional to contemporary styles, music can be heard throughout the building from practice areas and classrooms to recording studios and a computer-assisted lab with high-tech music creating software and technology.   • Perkinson Music Center 

    Originally built in 1911 and renovated in 2000, Perkinson Music Center is the home to the Millikin School of Music along with Kaeuper Hall, Millitrax Recording Studio, First Step Records, several practice rooms, classrooms, and studio spaces. Millikin's nationally-recognized School of Music is one of a small number of all-Steinway school in Illinois, and features a computer-assisted lab equipped with some of the latest music technology available.

  • Millitrax Recording Studio

    Millitrax Recording Studio consists of two studios, analog and digital. Studio A includes a large tracking room, isolation room, control room and machine room. Studio B features the mixing room with a digital console. Millitrax Recording Studio is also home to Millikin’s student-operated record label and publishing company, First Step Records. Millitrax recently underwent renovations and added two brand new Neve 5088 Shelford 32-channel studio recording consoles. Millikin is one of only 51 colleges/universities, and the second institution in Illinois, currently using the Neve 5088.

    Kaeuper Hall

    Kaeuper Hall is the 167 seat auditorium located in Perkinson Music Center. As the main stage for the School of Music, Kaeuper Hall hosts weekly recitals, guest instrumental and vocal performances, opera rehearsals and other intimate concerts.
