Millitrax Recording Studio consists of two studios, analog and digital. Studio A includes a large tracking room, isolation room, control room and machine room. Studio B features the mixing room with a digital console.

Millitrax is an important aspect of Millikin's student-operated recording companies, First Step Records and Blue Box Records. First Step Records is a student-operated record label and publishing company providing hands-on experiences in the business of music. Blue Box Records, an extension of First Step Records, is an expanded hub for commercial music ventures.

Faculty Spotlight:

Kevin Guarnieri

Millikin is thrilled to have Instructor Kevin Guarnieri oversee Millitrax since 2014 and advise students in the recording studio. Instructor Guarnieri began his professional career at Westlake Audio in Los Angeles in 1999 at the bottom of the ladder looking up. In a few years' time he had elevated his skillset and position far enough to begin working as a freelance recording engineer in Los Angeles & New York. By 2002 he had engineered albums by Whitney Houston, *Nsync, Mariah Carey, Limp Bizkit, The Distillers, Blackalicious, Mick Jagger & Missy Elliott. At this point he devoted most of his time to one client and worked closely with her through 2010. When he left L.A. in 2010 he had been fortunate enough to work on many pop, rock & hip-hop productions, among them: Alanis Morissette, Sting, Eric Clapton, Boyz II Men, Sam Moore, Billy Joel, Michael Bublé, Kelly Clarkson and Travis Tritt. Late in 2010, KG had shifted gears and began teaching his teaching career.

The Millitrax studio complex at Millikin University is on the scale of the best commercially available studios in the United States, and the space is proudly devoted to the students and greater community of Millikin University. It provides many great opportunities for students to not only record music, but to learn the ins and outs of producing and studio engineering.
