Health Insurance Requirements

International students are required to send the University a Proof of Health Insurance. With HTH Worldwide, Millikin students are able to pursue their studies in the U.S. with the security that they can access quality medical care when and where they need it. An overview of the two different health insurance plans will be covered during your First Week Orientation, but we would strongly suggest that you purchase insurance before your arrival in the U.S.

The enrollment process is very easy and can be done entirely online.

  1. Decide if you would rather have Global Student USA Preferred or Global Student USA
  2. Click "Get a Quote"
  3. Fill in the appropriate information and print out a copy of your new insurance card.
  4. Provide your Proof of Insurance to the Designated School Official (DSO) upon arrival

For more information about your insurance options visit HTH Travel Insurance. If you have any questions e-mail Millikin University's Center for International Education.

We suggest you carry a copy of your insurance card. This will assist us should you need to be referred off-campus for any medical treatment. All charges that you incur at the Millikin Health Center will be billed directly to your Millikin University account. This includes charges for lab tests, medical procedures, medications and injections. We do not submit bills to any insurance company. A receipt will be given for any charges incurred, and you are responsible for submitting it to your insurance company for reimbursement.

Health and Counseling

Millikin's Health Center provides students and employees with medical services. Millikin also offers free, confidential counseling services for students through the Student Mental and Behavioral Health office.

It is not uncommon for students to experience distress from time to time. The college years are one of the most challenging transition periods in life. Adjusting to campus life, increased academic demands, relationship problems, and other personal issues can feel overwhelming at times.

Confidential personal counseling services are available throughout the academic year to assist students in overcoming their difficulties. Staff members utilize an approach that emphasizes personal responsibility, prevention, intervention, and a concern for the whole student. It is our goal to assist students in improving their abilities to make informed decisions that positively affect their mental, physical, and spiritual health.

Certificate of Immunity: In accordance with the Illinois College Student Immunization Act 110 ILCS 20, Millikin University requires verification of immunity for Diphtheria/Tetanus, Measles, Mumps, and Rubella. Exact dates are required for all immunizations, date of disease and/or serological test results. If serology titer indicates lack of immunity, vaccines must be administered. Although Hepatitis B and Meningococcal vaccines are not required, the American College Health Association (ACHA) and our physician recommend that students consider being immunized. Immunizations administered prior to the first birthday are invalid.
