Girls grades 6-8 are invited to participate in the 2014 iSmartgirls Discovery Camp consisting of one full-day session on Saturday, March 1, 2014.

The iSmartgirls Discovery Camp is an intensive, hands-on learning camp led by Millikin students, as role models and mentors, and by successful business professionals.

Focusing on subject areas of science, math, art and technology, iSmartgirls not only teaches its young learners through hands-on labs but also imparts other important life lessons including the accessibility of careers for females in science, math, art and technology and the empowering message that girls and women can "create" and "own" their careers and professional futures. iSmartgirls also practice 21st century skills - collaboration, communication and critical thinking.

The labs for the discovery camp include:

iSolve - Become a forensic scientist and apply chemistry, biology, and laboratory skills to a real-life criminal investigation.

iDesign - Create a geometrical design that tells a story about you. Design, sew and quilt a piece of art that you can keep forever, give as a gift, or build a dream business around.

iFilm - Create a film with a team as a director or an editor. You can use your new skills to complete another film and enter into the Land of Lincoln Film Festival.

The cost for the 2014 iSmartgirls Discovery Camp is $49 per person and the fee includes all activities, lunch, and a camp T-shirt. The full-day session on Saturday, March 1 will be held at Millikin University from 8 a.m. '€“ 3:30 p.m.
