Millikin Tech Adventures program teaches entrepreneurship to students

Millikin University and PPG Industries Inc. have partnered to host Tech AdVentures, an entrepreneurship-based summer camp for current 8th '€“ 12th grade students. The camp will be held at Millikin University from June 22 '€“ July 2, 2015.

Participants will learn to identify opportunities for innovation using an entrepreneurial mindset, design solutions using Raspberry Pi computers and toolkits, co-create and build solutions to real-world problems and integrate electronics into technology.

"Millikin and PPG collaborated in the past to run iSMARTgirls, and this year we have decided to go a somewhat different direction," said Julienne Shields, Millikin instructor of entrepreneurship. "This camp is for boys and girls ranging from 8th - 12th grade. The students will be using entrepreneurial frameworks and inquiry to imagine solutions, and then learn the skills to build solutions using Raspberry Pi computers."

RJ Podeschi, Millikin assistant professor of information systems, added, "This is a great opportunity to see if students have an interest in a tech-related field by exploring a platform, Raspberry Pi, that has limitless possibilities. It's a fun way to pick up tech skills and be creative simultaneously."
