Gifts of cash, check, or credit cards
Cash gifts are the most straightforward way to make an immediate gift to Millikin and see your philanthropy in action. Millikin accepts gifts of cash, checks, and credit cards. You may designate your cash gift toward the area of greatest need, or to a program or academic department that is particularly meaningful to you.
A cash gift to Millikin entitles you to take a charitable income-tax deduction in the year you make the gift. Gifts must be postmarked by December 31 to qualify for that year's deduction. You may deduct up to 60% of your adjusted gross income in the year you make your gift. If your gift exceeds 60%, then you may carry the excess amount over as a deduction for up to five additional years.
You may wish to make a gift to Millikin over a period of years. Such gifts are called pledges and are a popular way to give. For example, you may create a pledge for $25,000 by giving $5,000 per year for 5 years. The funds will be spent according to your specifications as written in a pledge agreement.
