Tom Lewicki teaches Financial Accounting for the Fast-Track and Executive MBA Programs at Millikin University.
Tom brings to the classroom an entrepreneurial focus along with finance, operational, M&A and capital acquisition experience gained over a thirty-eight year career. He started his career in public accounting and has been a controller for a machine tool manufacturer and a finance executive for several pioneering, venture-funded technology startup businesses, including: Vistar Insurance Services, a Zurich American Insurance Company corporate spinout that developed an alternative back-office platform for delivery of insurance products and services; Mercantec, that developed the first Internet shopping cart technology; and Spyglass, an IPO that commercialized the University of Illinois’ groundbreaking Mosaic browser technology.
Throughout his career, Tom has focused on building shareholder value, improving financial performance, and developing and supporting organizational goals.
He received degrees from Purdue University (B.S. in Industrial Management with Honors in Economics) and the University of Illinois (Master of Accounting Science).
I enjoy bringing my business background into the classroom to enhance the student learning experience. Financial statements tell a nuanced story about the organization; a key takeaway from MB540 Financial Accounting is learning to discern and interpret that story.
