Exercise Science & Sport

Thad Walker MS, ATC, CSCS is an instructor in the Department of Exercise Science and Sport (ESS) teaching departmental, athletic training and sport management courses.  


Mr. Walker is a certified athletic trainer (ATC) through the National Athletic Trainers’ Association-Board of Certification (NATA-BOC) and is licensed to practice by the State of Illinois. Additionally, he is credentialed as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). He is a graduate of A.T. Still University of Health Sciences, Mesa, AZ campus, where he earned a post-professional master’s degree in Sports Health Care. Prior to beginning his graduate studies, Mr. Walker graduated from Augustana College in Rock Island, IL where he obtained a BA in Biology with a minor in athletic training. 


Currently Mr. Walker serves as the Region 3 Representative for the Illinois Athletic Trainers’ Association (IATA), as an item writer for the NATA-BOC Exam Development Committee (EDC), and represents the Athletic Training Program on the Alumni Board for the Arizona School of Health Sciences division of A.T. Still University. 


Prior to his current appointment, Mr. Walker served as the Head Athletic Trainer for eight years for the University while also teaching courses in the ESS Department. He has held previous athletic training positions with Phoenix College, Southwest Sports Medicine, Physiotherapy Associates and multiple high schools/junior high schools in the Phoenix metro area.
